Title: Lead Flight Operations Specialist
Type: Full-Time
Location: Corpus Christi, TX
Description: Position provides contract support to CBP Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program to include administrative duties, flight planning and scheduling, mission reporting and analysis, site logistical support, supply/inventory tracking and data entry, and program coordination. Position also requires duties related to in-processing and training of site personnel, ground visual observation of airborne unmanned aircraft mandated by FAA Certificate of Authorization, and regular interface with local military authorities and civilian contractors in support of operations. Specific Job Requirements • Coordinate UAS operating site services to include: site preparation, site support services during UAS operations as required. Site support services shall encompass the launch and recovery sites, the Ground Control Station (GCS), the sensor Control Terminal (SCT), Remote Video Terminal (RVT), and potential emergency and alternate airfield sites. • Provide flight authorization and scheduling support, including preparing and updating and submission of UAS flight schedules by CBP prior to execution of the mission. • Coordinate with civil and/ or military weather agencies for forecasting services accessible from the FOSC site. • Prepare, publish, and update as required Notices to Airmen (NOTAM) applicable to UAS operations through the applicable Flight Service Station (FSS). The NOTAMs shall contain detailed information essential to safe UAS operations in the national airspace system. • Establish, maintain, and update as needed the Flight Publications Library, including but not limited to the following products: applicable DoD Flight information Publications (FLIPs), FAA Air Traffic Publications, approved Letters of Procedures, Certificates of Authorization issued by the FAA, as well as CBP UAS operations and maintenance manual. • Coordinate UAS flight/ mission planning and briefing with all applicable agencies prior to the commencement of operations. • Support post-mission reporting and analysis. This shall include but is not limited to the flowing areas: UAS mission results, lessons learned, UAS contractor performance, equipment effectiveness and status, maintenance, supply and logistics reports, and accident and hazard potential reports. • Coordinate mishap response and safety efforts with the appropriate mishap response agencies and approve mishap response plans, procedures, and checklists for use in a UAS related mishap. • Performs and conducts training. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of work.
Required Education: • Masters degree. • Must have FAA Class 2 medical certification and a FAA commercial and multi-engine license with instrument rating
Required Experience: Must have FAA Class 2 medical certification and a FAA commercial and multi-engine license with instrument rating • Must have experience in supporting the CBP A&M UAS Arizona Border Control Initiative (ABCI) • Must have experience in supporting the CBP A&M UAS flying missions within the National Airspace and must have worked in the Southwest Field office in AZ for more than 4 years; • Experience in supporting CBP UAS ops in FEMA disaster relief situations and having had supported the CBP UAS surge operations in Tyndall Air Force Base, Ft. Drumm flying Maritime Predator UAVs. Other Requirements: 15 years of aviation experience; 10 in civilian aviation, including five of hands-on experience Must have some experience as an Aviation Maintenance Supervisor.
